About this campaign

After the February 2023 earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, Canada introduced special measures that allowed affected people to come to Canada and work here on open work permits. These TS2023 work permit holders are already in Canada — employed, paying taxes, raising children, and contributing to their communities and workplaces across the country.

These open work permits are now expiring, or will expire soon, and there is currently no clear pathway to renew them. Without action, people who are already settled and contributing could lose their legal authorization to work — through no fault of their own.

What this campaign is asking for

We respectfully ask the Government of Canada to introduce a temporary public policy allowing current TS2023 open work permit holders who are already in Canada to apply to extend their legal work authorization for a limited period, at standard application fees.

Please note: This campaign is about current TS2023 open work permit holders already in Canada, asking for a temporary renewal of their legal work authorization. It is not a request for automatic permanent residence, not an asylum campaign, and not a request for new arrivals.
