The TS2023 Initiative is a volunteer-run, community-led civil society movement based in Canada. We are not a registered corporation or political party. This website (ts2023.ca) is operated by volunteers to support Turkish nationals in Canada affected by the February 2023 earthquakes.

2. What Personal Information We Collect
We collect personal information only where it is necessary for specific purposes. The information we may collect includes:
- Campaign support form: Full name, email address, city, province, postal code or federal riding, Canadian residency status, and typed signature.
- Community forum / account registration: Name, email address, province, and country of residence.
- Contact form submissions: Name, email address, and message content.
- Technical data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically for security and performance purposes. These are not linked to individual identities.
3. Why We Collect This Information
We collect personal information for the following purposes:
- To record and verify campaign support signatures and demonstrate public support to government representatives.
- To communicate campaign updates to individuals who have consented to receive them.
- To operate the community forum and provide access to registered members.
- To respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form.
- To maintain the security and integrity of our website.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected. Specifically:
- Aggregate signature counts (e.g., "X people have signed") may be made public to demonstrate the scale of support. Individual names may also be included in reports presented to government if you have signed the campaign form, consistent with the purpose of the campaign.
- Email addresses are used only to send campaign-related updates where you have given consent, and to verify uniqueness of signatures. They are never published publicly.
- We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.
5. Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Government engagement: Aggregate signature data and, where appropriate, supporter names may be presented to Members of Parliament or federal officials as part of our advocacy work. By signing the campaign form, you consent to this use.
- Service providers: Our website is hosted on a server in Canada. We do not use third-party email marketing platforms or analytics services that receive your personal data.
- Legal obligation: We may disclose information if required by applicable Canadian law or a valid court order.
6. Consent
By submitting the campaign support form, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this policy. Consent to receive email updates is optional and separate.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@ts2023.ca. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred before withdrawal.
7. Retention of Personal Information
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Campaign signature data will be retained for the duration of the campaign and a reasonable period thereafter. You may request deletion of your information at any time (see Section 8).

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal retention requirements.

- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.
