Mastery in Culinary Arts: A TS2023 Success Story in National Competitions

My name is Ufuk İncesu, and I am currently working as a chef in Toronto, Ontario. I came to Canada with the goal of contributing to this country’s rich culinary culture and building a future here through determination and hard work. Since my arrival, I have seized every opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.

One of my proudest achievements in Canada has been winning the culinary competition Chef’s Table Junction. In this prestigious local event, contestants were challenged to create a dish using mystery ingredients. Competing against many talented professionals, I was honored with first place. This experience not only validated my skills but also inspired me to pursue my culinary career in Canada with even greater passion.

Toronto is also where my professional culinary journey truly began. While I brought experience from my home country, I have had the opportunity to learn North American culinary standards and refine my skills to meet local expectations. I currently work in a busy Turkish restaurant, contributing to the daily operations of the kitchen, participating in menu development, and ensuring the quality and consistency of every dish served. By continuously improving my English and culinary abilities, I aim to provide the best possible experience for guests and advance in the industry.

Canada has become more than just a workplace for me; it is a place where I have found purpose, growth, and a sense of community. Being able to stay here longer is crucial for continuing my professional development as a chef and maintaining my contributions to Canadian society. In the long term, I hope to remain in Canada permanently, pursue citizenship, and build my life in this country.
