Culinary Talent and Humanitarian Spirit: TS2023 Professionals Giving Back to Vulnerable Canadians

By TS2023.ca on January 06, 2026

I am currently living and working in Toronto under the TS2023 visa program. I am writing this letter to share my experience adapting to life in Canada and how I contribute to the community both professionally and voluntarily.

Since arriving in Canada, I have had the privilege of working as a pastry chef with the Michelin-starred group Alo. This opportunity has allowed me to develop professionally, collaborate with diverse culinary teams, and gain first-hand experience in Canada’s dynamic food industry. I have embraced Canadian work culture and standards and continue to contribute with creativity, dedication, and care in everything I do.

In addition to my professional work, I am proud to volunteer as a pastry chef with Love Is Lovely, a Toronto-based nonprofit community initiative operating under Manor Road United Church. Our team, consisting of five chefs and a dedicated clergy member, is committed to bringing people together through the power of food and kindness.

We organize events on major holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and Canada Day, preparing and serving meals to those in need across the city. These initiatives not only support vulnerable members of our community but also celebrate the values of generosity, inclusivity, and unity that define Canada.

As someone who deeply values community and compassion, I am honored to contribute to this beautiful cultural mosaic. Canada has already given me so much, and through my work and volunteer service, I strive every day to give back—filling tables with food and hearts with hope.

Being able to contribute to the community through both my profession and volunteer work gives me a profound sense of purpose and happiness.
